HAZARDS
Don’t Let This Happen to You!
Improper maintenance of your fire sprinkler system can lead to a variety of ailments that could prevent your system from operating correctly in a fire emergency. The following are just a few examples of things that we have seen in our journeys.
Corroded Sprinkler Heads
Sprinkler heads can become corroded for a variety of reasons. However, any amount of corrosion can prevent the sprinkler head from activating as designed. Paint is also a common offender. Be sure to cover your sprinkler heads before painting.
 Corroded Pipe & Fittings
Like sprinkler heads, pipe and fittings can corroded for a variety of reasons. However, these items are prone to leaking and blow outs if not repaired promptly.
 Internal Obstructions
Corrosion can also cause a buildup of sludge and/or scale on the inside of piping. Because it is not visible to the naked eye, it can be harder to detect. However, evidence is often found during drain tests and when sections of pipe are replaced. Anything on the inside of piping can block the flow of water through the pipe and/or sprinkler head, preventing water from getting to the fire.
